What's the excuse now, Fabio? Drogba, Torres and Hernandez show no signs of fatigue with international goals
Fabio Capello's claim that his England stars' poor performance against Switzerland was down to fatigue looked even more unbelievable as a number of Premier League stars, who have endured similarly punishing seasons, went on to shine for their national sides.
Javier Hernandez, Didier Drogba and Fernando Torres all found the back of the net for the respective nations and showed no signs of the weariness which had, according to Capello, blighted his England stars during Saturday night's drab Euro 2012 qualifier with Switzerland.
Hernandez made 45 appearances for Manchester United in the past season but still found enough energy to score a hat-trick for his native Mexico in the CONCACAF Gold Cup clash with El Salvador.

Drogba - 46 appearances last term - bagged two for the Ivory Coast to help his team claim a place at next year's African Nations Cup.
Even Torres - 46 appearances - managed to find the back of the net for Spain, in their friendly with United States, after a punishing end of season run-in with Chelsea.
Hernandez scored a second-half treble to lead Mexico to a 5-0 rout of their South American rivals on Sunday in the opening match for both teams at the Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Mexico were already 2-0 up when Hernandez scored his first goal in the 60th minute with a long-range bouncing header of an Efrain Juarez corner.
Shattered: According to Capello, England were fatigued during the clash with Switzerland
He added his second seven minutes later, scoring from 10 yards, and completed his hat trick with a penalty in stoppage time.
'He was fortunate to score as a result of good team play,' Mexico coach Jose Manuel De La Torre said. 'He did what forwards are supposed to do.'
Hernandez’s final goal came after Marvin Gonzalez was red carded for a reckless foul on Chicharito, drawing boos from the majority of the 80,000 fans who were supporting Mexico.
'It’s unbelievable the support we have from the Mexicans we have that live here. You can see it with your own eyes,' Hernandez said, '80,000 people and most of them in green shirts'
On your own: Capello's comments on his team's performance have left him isolated
