Mourinho places Man United and Spurs on red alert by leaving Diarra out of US trip
Manchester United and Tottenham have been placed on alert with the news that Lassana Diarra has been left of Real Madrid's squad for their American tour.
Diarra struggled to hold down a first-team place under Jose Mourinho last season and the arrival of Nuri Sahin from Dortmund has pushed the France international further down the pecking order.
The combative midfielder - who played under Mourinho at Chelsea - now looks set to leave Real with a host of clubs interested in the 26-year-old's signature.
Left out: Lassana Diarra looks set to leave Real Madrid this summer
Madrid paid Portsmouth £20million for Diarra in January 2009 but it is likely that he will only command half of that fee with Real desperate to offload their unwanted stars.
Newcastle loan target Sergio Canales, Pedro Leon and Royston Drenthe have also been left out of the squad that travelled to Los Angeles on Monday and the trio are expected to leave the Bernabeu in the summer along with Fernando Gago, who is on Copa America duty with Argentina.
Madrid face David Beckham's LA Galaxy on Sunday.
