Jamie Redknapp : Where the Manchester derby will be won on Sunday...
1. How City cope with Wayne Rooney
They have done well in their last two visits to Old Trafford, but have been undone by a small moment, a brief loss in concentration.
Rooney's overhead kick, when he escaped Vincent Kompany to unleash a brilliant finish, was such a moment. Full concentration is required on Sunday.
Letting rip: Wayne Rooney's brilliant overhead kick decided last season's Manchester derby
2. City must stop United's wide attacks
Their full backs need to be excellent because United can kill you in the wide areas, especially when they get up a head of steam at Old Trafford.
It might be Micah Richards, Pablo Zabaleta, Gael Clichy or Aleksandar Kolarov. They must stop United delivering on the wings. It is crucial.
THE KEY MEN
Manchester City: David Silva
He plays with wing mirrors and sees defenders coming. If you try to close him down, he will shift the ball quickly with either foot and off-load the ball.
His balance and control and direct running at defenders is a joy to watch. Remarkable that he was centre forward for Spain against Scotland, but that shows his versatility.
David Silva: Plays with wing mirrors
He will play between the lines and United will deal with him by deploying a deep midfielder or defender to go out and meet him. Another test for Phil Jones, perhaps.
Manchester United: Nani
He and Rooney remind me of a married couple. They hammer each other if a pass goes astray and then fall back in love when they create a goal.
Rooney is the cutting edge of this team, but Nani's influence and goal power continues to grow.
Man of the moment: Nani is in terrific form for United
He was left out last year and sat on the bench for the Champions League final but he has been in dynamic form and has scored three in two against City.
He is in explosive form and will shoot on sight coming off the line and on to his left foot.
PREDICTION
City have the momentum. They are top of the league and defeated Villarreal with a late goal in midweek.
Are United better than last year? I don't think so. City are. They do, however, blow a bit hot and cold still. But if they are hot I can't see them being beaten, even though it is in United's back yard.
I'm going for 2-2, the same result as Friday's Roy of the Rovers story in Sportsmail...
