Giggs ruled out of Manchester derby as Cleverley lined up to make United return
Manchester United's veteran midfielder Ryan Giggs will miss Sunday's derby against local rivals City after picking up a hamstring injury.
Giggs could be out for a fortnight in all, meaning he will miss his first home game against City.
Ruled out: Giggs in action for United at Liverpool last weekend
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson looks like he might well have a handy replacement however, with Tom Cleverley set to return to the team.
Set to return: Tom Cleverley
Cleverley has spent six weeks on the sidelines after spraining ankle ligaments during United's 5-0 win at Bolton.
While United were on Champions League duty in Romania this week, Cleverley underwent three days of intensive solo training.
Since that win at Bolton, United's form has noticeably dipped, and if City win at Old Trafford they will open up an early five point lead in the title race.
A Manchester derby at Old Trafford without Giggs will be an unusual sight, with the Welshman playing a key role in matches against City for more than two decades.
