Sneijder staying at Inter Milan as Arsenal make late move for former Manchester United target
Inter Milan midfielder Wesley Sneijder has finally ruled out a summer move to the Premier League.
Sneijder has been heavily linked with Manchester United while Arsenal, still reeling from the 8-2 mauling at the hands of the Red Devils, made a late enquiry about the Dutchman.
The Holland international's wages, he earns £250,000 a week at the San Siro, would have been a major stumbling block for Arsenal but manager Arsene Wenger is under pressure to deliver a big name with the transfer window closing on Wednesday night.
No go: Wesley Sneijder says he is staying with Inter Milan - for now
Brazilian left-back Andre dos Santos is set to complete his move from Fenerbahce but it is the gaps left by the departures of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas that Wenger needs to plug.
United boss Sir Alex Ferguson also wanted Sneijder to replace one of his key performers following Paul Scholes' retirement but no official move was made and the 27-year-old is poised to carry on in Serie A.
Needing new faces: Arsene Wenger's Arsenal squad looks light
'I'm staying at Inter. I don't think I'll leave at this moment in the market,' Sneijder told Sender Nos.
'Manchester United? Anything is possible in football, but I don't think this time something will happen.
'I know that if I were to leave it would have be for the right price, Inter was clear about that. But I have not spoken formally with the two Manchester clubs.'
Chelsea and Manchester City have also been monitoring Sneijder's situation for most of the summer.
